Journey of Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE)

2009

Sri Sri University (SSU) was established under the Sri Sri University Act, Odisha, as envisioned by Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar ji, to blend the best of the East and West in education.

2012

The University began its first academic session, offering programs in Management, Yoga, and Performing Arts.

2015-2018

Rapid expansion in academic offerings across Humanities, Science, Architecture, Agriculture, and Emerging Technologies.

2019

Recognized as a pioneer in integrating value-based education with modern skills, SSU expanded its global collaborations and research initiatives.

2020

With the rise of digital education, SSU envisioned reaching learners in remote, rural, and tribal regions through Open and Distance Learning (ODL) and Online Education.

2023

Establishment of the Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE) at Sri Sri University, with the mission to make quality higher education accessible, flexible, and affordable.

2023 (March)

Formation of CDOE with the appointment of Director, CDOE and Deputy Registrar, CDOE to lead the initiative.

2023 (October)

Submission of program proposals for approval in BCom, BBA, MA Yoga, MA Hindu Studies, and MPA Odissi Dance.

2024 (January)

Launch of the first Student Support System and academic planning framework in line with UGC-DEB regulations

2024 (July 5)

UGC-DEB Expert Committee Visit conducted, marking a key milestone in compliance and quality assurance.

2024 (November)

Approval received from UGC-DEB for offering ODL programs:

    • BCom
    • BBA (Bachelor of Business Administration)
    • MA Yoga
    • MA Hindu Studies
    • MPA Odissi Dance
2025 (February)

Admission opens for the first batch of ODL learners, officially marking the academic journey of CDOE.

2025 (August)

Earn While You Learn Initiative – Providing apprenticeship opportunities in top retail companies for students to gain work experience and a fixed income while studying.

Future of CDOE
    • Empowering Learners Across India – Special focus on rural, tribal, and remote learners of Odisha and beyond.
    • Digital Transformation – Introduction of Learning Management System (LMS), e-SLMs, interactive doubt-solving sessions, and personalized learner support.
    • Expansion Plans – Adding more UG & PG programs in Management, Humanities & Arts.
    • National Outreach – Building opportunities for national learners who wish to pursue Indian Knowledge Systems, Yoga, Arts, and Culture through flexible distance learning.
