  • The Degree of Masters of Art in Yoga aims to train the students in the development and applications of Yogic tradition in various aspects of life.
  • Deepen the understanding of the philosophical, physiological, and psychological aspects of yoga. Develop advanced skills in various yoga practices, including asanas, pranayama, meditation, and therapeutic techniques. Promote research and innovation in the field of yoga, contributing to evidence-based practices. Prepare graduates for professional roles in teaching, therapy, and wellness management within diverse settings.
  • Foster personal growth and self-awareness among students, promoting a holistic approach to health and well-being. Equip students with the knowledge to integrate yoga into multidisciplinary health care systems and community wellness programs. Enhance the ability to critically evaluate and apply yoga teachings in contemporary contexts while preserving its traditional essence.
  • As Sri Sri University envisions to bring together the best of western innovation with the ancient values and the wisdom of the east, the M.A. Yoga program intends to offer courses that will not only give a fair understanding of the value systems of the east but will also impart holistic and value-integrated education in order to develop visionary thinkers with social consciousness to lead and precipitate inevitable changes with summative call for Learn-Lead-Serve.

Eligibility

A candidate shall be permitted to appear for the examination in a subject of study only if he/she secures not less than 75% attendance in the subject concerned. Under special conditions, on the basis of medical grounds, the attendance must not be less than 65%.

  • Develop a good understanding of foundational principles underlying Yoga tradition, Philosophy, and culture.
  • Develop a good understanding of analytical methods through which knowledge, is analysed and processed, including the methods laid out in Yoga philosophy as well as in physiology.
  • Develop a good understanding and working proficiency in the field of Yoga, so that he/she can understand and further do an in-depth study of the large number of Yoga texts.
  • Develop a very good understanding of Yogic practices (related to the individual health and society), and how these practices (past, as well as present) are manifestations of core Yogic foundational principles.
  • Acquire some expertise through electives in one or more areas of knowledge of their interest and previous knowledge base, and thereby be able to better contextualize their understanding of “Yoga” in the present and future world.
  • Co-relate the other religions and cultures with Yoga philosophy and culture to create innovative ways and means for betterment of mankind.
  • Gain professional skill in various fields of Yoga like Contemporary Yogic practice and Hatha Yoga.
  • Identify/understand/attain in depth understanding of Yogic Principles, Practices, Traditions, Values, Ethics, Philosophy, Yoga Psychology, Culture and Civilization
  • Become eligible to go for doctoral studies and for vocations in teaching, education and counselling, School, Hospitals, non-profit management, priesthood and socialwork.
